Park City Springtime Getaway

Springtime Snow: Harriet and me joined by our PC local friend Vicki!

As we explained in an earlier post, we are starved for travel! When our friend Christy invited us to accompany her to Park City, Utah, we jumped at the chance. Our plans were shopping, sightseeing and eating, but we were surprised by this springtime snow storm. Nonetheless we persevered and had the best time ever. Won’t you join us on our getaway!

Where to Shop

Let’s just start with Park City shopping! Even though it’s a small town, there are several stores that are “must visits!” We began at Panache Boutique which carries upscale contemporary clothing and accessories. Harriet purchased the white linen dress and pink cardi (shown above) while I selected a Kule menswear sweater. We then moved on to another favorite: Cake Boutique. Cake carries some terrific contemporary brands: IRO, Vince, ALC and many more. They have also created a separate space adjoining the main store which carries a huge selection of athleisure. Next we stopped by Gorsuch. Gorsuch is probably the most luxurious (and expensive) store that we visited. It is beautifully curated with both apparel and home goods. It is certainly worth a visit. Our final stop was The Collective. This boutique is a bit more eclectic; it ranges from funky fun items to classics. Harriet found a beautiful silk skirt and I purchased a colorblocked black and white sweater. Both are upcoming on Instagram!

Where to Eat

Christy, Vicki and me at The Pendry for dinner

Since we were only in Park City for a few days, we couldn’t hit every great restaurant. The Pendry is a sister hotel of the Montage; the dining room is gorgeous, the service was impeccable, great wine list and good food. It’s relatively new but certainly worth the visit.

Enjoying champagne at the Veuve Clicquot Apres’ Lounge

Speaking of the Montage, you might want to venture to Deer Valley to enjoy the hotel and all it has to offer. We had lunch at Burgers & Bourbon which is perfect for casual dining while viewing the snow filled slopes. The Veuve Clicqout Yurt (aka The Apres Lounge) is adjacent to the hotel; we stopped in for a glass of champagne. Glorious! If you are in the mood for fine dining, try The Apex at the Montage.

A fun and casual restaurant that we loved was Yuki Yama Sushi, The menu is described as a contemporary mix of Japanese inspired cuisine. It also has a great Saki list. Our server was super informative., helpful and friendly. Loved the experience.

Christy and Harriet purchasing specialty whiskey at High West (Rendezvous Rye and Bourye Limited)

Another fun place to eat is at High West Saloon. If you are not familiar with High West Whiskey, it is a local distillery specializing in blends inspired by it’s Western roots. Good food, great ambience and an adjacent store where one can purchase High West products. What could be better!

Clearly there are many great restaurants to chose from in Park City. Since we didn’t get to visit them all, I consulted with our local PC expert; these were her suggestions: The River Horse, Purple Sage, and The Brick which are all located on Main Street. If you want to venture a bit further, try Rime at The St Regis, or Yuta located in the Lodge at Blue Sky Ranch.

The activities at Park City are endless. Obviously there is skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing or snow shoeing. There is great hiking and biking in the summertime with over 400 miles of maintained trails. If you love fly fishing, river rafting or horse back riding you can enjoy all in Park City. Golfing is also a favorite past time; there are 15 courses close by. Sadly we did not have time for all of these great activities. I suppose we will just need to return soon.
