Faherty: Our New Favorite Brand

Faherty is not really a new brand; it was started in 2013 by two brothers: Alex and Mike Faherty. Although it is carried in 350 wholesale accounts (including Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom where both Harriet and I shop) somehow the brand wasn’t on our radar until a Faherty store opened in Manhattan Village which is very near Harriet’s home. And honestly, initially, we weren’t sure the brand was right for us. It is definitely casual and has a Southern California vibe (even though the company is based in New York) but we weren’t sure the styling was for us. But of course, Harriet wandered in (If there is a retail store in sight, Harriet is there!) and immediately found the perfect casual dress.

Honestly this isn’t Harriet’s usual look but somehow it just worked. And with that we both began to shop at Faherty!

If you review the intro statement on the Faherty website, it gives you a good sense of the brand

All-day surf sessions, road trips, bonfires on the beach… these are the things that have inspired us since the beginning, when Alex, Mike, and Kerry created a family-led brand built on the highest quality products, making things better, and always spreading good vibes. A decade later, the dream—and our family—just keeps growing. Join us on this epic journey.”

Before I move on to some of my favorite styles, I thought it would be fun to show a few of the dresses currently in stock that highlight the Faherty brand.

Isha Linen Dress

$168.00

Gracie Dress

$298.00

Amafi Dress

$198.00

What we love about Faherty dresses is the styling is classic, relaxed and wearable. The prints tend toward demure but are perfect for the silhouettes Faherty chooses. They are ideal for day to casual evening wear. Perhaps Faherty is not specifically designed for the over 60 demographic, the styling is versatile enough that it actually can work for our age group!

The Faherty styles that work for me tend to be more classic. The Isha top (which is a take off from the Isha dress) is super comfy with great detailing (pintucks, tiny button detail and linen fabric) I paired it with the Airlie pant. This pant is beautifully styled with front seaming, a tapered leg and a vintage wash. It can be dressed up or down and it’s perfect for transitioning from spring to summer. I like these styles so much that I bought each of them in two colorways (see below) Again…I think Faherty designs are perfect on a multitude of age groups. Clearly I can’t wear every style in the Faherty line (I tried the Isha dress but it was way too short!) but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t styles that can work for every age. I have included some ideas below that I think really work.

Breeze Shirt

$138.00

Carmel Eyelet Top

$158.00

Monterey Linen Pant

$158.00

Essential Travel Pant

$138.00

Faherty is not just for women. They have a strong men’s line, some great kids’ styles and fun accessories. If interested, the website has a great product selection. (fahertybrand.com) There are 40 store locations so perhaps there is a Faherty store in your neighborhood. It is certainly a brand that deserves your attention! Let us know what you think.
