The “Must Have” Skirt for Spring: The Denim Midi

In case you haven’t noticed, denim skirts are trending for spring! Mini jean skirts have always been around for the younger set, but now it’s all about longer lengths. Wendy and I are huge fans of the midi and even slightly shorter. If you ask me, stretch denim is the key. You can find styles in rigid denim but they aren’t as flattering nor comfortable. Practically speaking, longer skirts are best with a slit for ease in walking.

I’m wearing the Good American slit front midi in a darker wash. It also comes in a lighter wash which is perfect for spring and summer. I love the soft stretch denim with the front slit and back pockets. Initially I was hesitant about wearing a higher slit but no longer. Here I’m styling it with a slightly cropped tee in a classic navy/white stripe. I’ve finished off my look with a cropped denim jacket in crisp white. Mine is from a previous season with a raw edge, but Paige has updated it with a finished bottom. Belt is vintage Prada. If you hold onto something long enough, it will come back in style! These sneaks are our favs, the New Balance 327 in sea salt. They’re extremely sought after so you have to buy them when you see them!

Here I’ve styled my skirt with a cropped oxford shirt in light blue stripe. It also comes in solid white. I’ve styled it with a front tuck so the front looks more polished. My platform sandal is from Clergerie and happens to be on sale. They are so comfortable!

Cream bottoms are trending so why not include this denim midi in bone? The fabric has the same stretch as the blue denim. I am obsessed with navy/white stripes this season! This soft knit tee from Faherty is right up my alley!

Wendy prefers a slightly shorter length which works great with her frame. She’s wearing the Collette denim skirt with front and back patch pockets. The denim has a comfortable stretch and the knee skimming silhouette is very flattering. She styled it with a the Striped Monica Tee from Levi which looks great against the dark denim. She finished off her look with a neutral wooden clog from Beek. It’s a perfect heel height to accentuate the skirt length and can be worn with so many outfits. It’s available in red, which Wendy is eyeing to add to her closet. Her mini tote is Anthropologie from a previous season but she likes this red shoulder bag as a great alternative.

Hopefully a denim skirt is a candidate for your spring closet!

XO,

Harriet
