Fall Trend Presentation: Grand View League for American Cancer Society

dsc_0322.JPG

Harriet and I were so honored to be invited to present at the Grand View League luncheon to support the American Cancer Society on October 11th. One of Harriet's life long friends, Jeri Finch, is a member of this amazing group; she recommended Ageless Style Directory as the featured presentation. We were thrilled to participate for such a worthy cause.

You may be wondering what exactly is Grand View League. Since it's inception, the Grand View League has raised over $16 million dollars for the American Cancer Society. The Grand View Research Funding Initiative was launched in 2016 with the specific purpose of supporting and funding a local research scientist each year. This years "Design & Discovery" luncheon at the Rinconada Country Club in Los Gatos was another fund raising effort for this amazing group.

In addition to the Women of the Grand View League, also in attendance was Rose Pierro Simmons, the Chief Operating Officer for the American Cancer Society (shown on the far right next to Jeri Finch) The support of the members of American Cancer Society for this luncheon made the event even more meaningful.

We decided our presentation would revolve around favorite fall trends for 2019. After a brief introduction, we began our presentation with two amazing members of the Grand View League, Cheri and Laura, helping model our preferred looks..

We began with the one of the most prevalent fashion directions for fall: animal in it's many iterations. We can only show a few of our looks but if you want to access the entire video it is available below.

Our first look was on Laura, an animal inspired shirt from Equipment paired with a L'Agence jacket (which Harriet has been coveting forever!) completed with Gucci accessories. For a slightly more professional feel, we styled Cheri in a Joie blazer, coupled with a Frame black 3/4 sleeve turtleneck shown with a Zara animal print skirt. This was the perfect blend of contemporary product with fast fashion!

We next moved on to the all important menswear plaid trend. Since Harriet was commentating, (note her amazing animal print BA&SH dress) I modeled a black and white plaid double breasted blazer, shown with a gold silk Ann Taylor tank and Frame black jeans. We love this look because it is incredibly versatile; it can easily take you from day to dinner.

As a compliment to this look, Laura wore a Sanctuary plaid elongated blazer, worn with coordinated side striped pants and accessorized with a fabulous Kendra Scott Y necklace. Again this is a very versatile look that can be casual or professional.

Our final trend had definitely more of a daytime vibe. We love colored denim this year especially when it's paired with cozy cardigan sweaters! Cheri showed the first ensemble: Madewell rust jeans coupled with a color blocked sweater worn over a Splendid silk blend tank. Even though it might seem like we are mixing trends, we love animal with this look so we paired it with an animal print handbag.

Last but certainly not least, Harriet modeled one of her favorite combinations: Cranberry Frame jeans, paired with a gold APC sweater and accessorized with an oversized animal print scarf. This look becomes even more casual when worn with Golden Goose sneakers, a brand Harriet simply loves!

All in all, this was such an amazing event that we were so excited to be a part of. We don't yet know how much money was raised for the American Cancer Society from this event, but we do know that whenever we are asked, we will always support this cause. Cancer has touched so many people's lives; the research to eradicate this disease could not be more important. Thanks to the Grand View League for allowing us to participate in this wonderful experience.
