Bacari West Adams: Great Neighborhood Restaurant

Bacari West Adams was opened in 2018, but it’s history goes back 11 years further. Initially named Bacaro LA, it was a well priced wine bar with tasty small plate offerings; it was a USC student haven. However, Bacari has grown up and although it still offers small plates for sharing, there is now a full bar, a more upscale interior and a lovely back patio.

Bacari now boasts four locations: West 3rd Street, Playa del Rey, Silverlake and West Adams. I have eaten at West 3rd as well as West Adams (twice) so I think I have had ample experience to recommend this restaurant. If you follow our blog, it may be apparent that Harriet and I eat out a lot, often at some of the most highly rated restaurants in Los Angeles. But I must confess, that I love Bacari’s casual vibe, the unassuming but efficient service and really yummy food!

Now on to the food! I love the whole concept of sharing plates. You get to try many more dishes (sometimes food you would never have considered!) and it almost doesn’t matter if the dishes seem to go well together. Who cares? So we started with the burrata caprese which was served with warm bread and intended to almost be eaten like a bruscheta. Then we moved on to veggies. The cauliflower is a signature dish; the flavor is truly unlike any other caulifower dish I have tasted. The brussel sprouts are crispy and delicious. We finished with a white pizza with fromage blanc, bacon, scallions and mozzarella. Seriously yummy! And just to give a shout out to the cocktails…I am a dirty martini lover; the bartender made it exactly as I hoped. Perfection

Not the best pic but shows the variety of offerings!

If you are in the downtown Los Angeles area, I would definitely give Bacari West Adams a try. We were there right before a USC football game, so there were a lot of students and lots of noise. If that is a negative for you then pick another day. It’s located near the Coliseum, Banc of California Stadium, Exposition Park and USC; however, it is literally a 5 minute drive from DTLA. I don’t believe good food and tasty drinks need to be outrageously expensive. Bacari West is a neighborhood gem.
